Install latest SMPlayer on Ubuntu and Linux Mint

Install SMPlayer media player version 16.7 on Ubuntu 16.04, Linux Mint and ubuntu derivatives. Latest SMPlayer (version 16.7) has New PPA for Ubuntu because they found there are bugs ex: in some versions of Qt5 the numeric keypad keys don’t work as accelerators, in which Since version 16.6 the SMPlayer packages are built with Qt5 by default. now there’s available another PPA for Ubuntu with packages compiled with Qt 4.
Install latest SMPlayer on Ubuntu
SMPlayer doesn't need any external codecs, SMPlayer come with built-in codecs that can play virtually all video and audio formats. Just install SMPlayer and you'll be able to play all formats without the hassle to find and install codec packs.

SMPlayer Installation
To install SMPlayer packages from that PPA, add their repository
If you have already add their old repository 'ppa:rvm/smplayer' then, you should remove it first, Open your terminal (ctrl + alt + t), and type these command:
sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:rvm/smplayer
then add the new repository and install latest SMPlayer
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rvm/smplayer-qt4
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install smplayer smplayer-themes smplayer-skins
Uninstall SMPlayer
To Uninstall or remove SMPlayer, use thics command.
sudo apt install ppa-purge && sudo ppa-purge ppa:rvm/smplayer-qt4
