In this tutorial Set up or create Wi-Fi/wireless hotspot on Ubuntu, i use Ubuntu 16.04 come with Gnome desktop installed

Set up Wi-Fi hotspot on Ubuntu
- At first make sure you have a working Internet connection from your your LAN/Wired internet connection or mobile broadband (USB modem device).
- Click the icon at the right of the menu bar and select Wifi Settings.

- Done, that's it.

The network name will be based on the name of your computer. A network name (SSID) and security key are automatically generated. Other devices laptop, android smartphone, tablet etc will need this information to connect to the hotspot you've just created.
